I realized that my passion for baking came from when I was a child. I was always in the kitchen with my mother and grandmother watching them create flavorful cakes from scratch. After moving from Philadelphia, PA to Stone Mountain, GA as a child, my mother kept baking a forefront in our household with baking for every birthday, holiday and anything in between. I usually only ate cake for events and parties but over time realized my absolute favorite dessert is cheesecake. So instead of buying it from the store, I decided to learn how to make cheesecake, on my own, from scratch. After making a few, I decided to bring a cheesecake to a work potluck and my coworkers just loved it and wanted more! So then I started to sell my cheesecakes to friends and coworkers. Over the years, my mother expressed a fondness to own a bakery with me one day since we both displayed a passion for baking. However, due to the reality of wanting to maintain a stable income, she decided that the risk was too great and put that dream on the back burner. But June 2020, everything changed when my mother and I made my wedding cake together. We received so much praise for the beautiful work we did that the passion to own a bakery took flight for me. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was on leave from my job where I work as a Flight Attendant for Southwest Airlines so the timing in creating a business of my own was more than perfect! I started to bake and decorate cakes for close friends and family and in September 2020, I acquired my LLC and the rest is history! My mother still cannot join me on this exciting venture but there is always a place for her here at Revel Treats by Tora G.!
